The Boat

The Formula 18 catamaran has evolved over the last 25 years to become the largest high performance two-person catamarans class in the world. Its design attracts sailors of all ages and experience levels from professional racers to weekend club racers. The F18 is a box-rule class that has strict weight, length, beam and sail area limits. This has allowed numerous manufacturers, including Goodall Design, Nacra, Falcon Marine, Hobie Cat and others to build innovative boats while providing close, fun, one-design racing.

The Sailors

The F18 North American Championship Regatta will bring sailors together from USA, Canada, Europe, South America, and beyond. The experience level of the sailors will range from novice to professional and youth to masters level sailor. Competitors will range from recreational to Olympic campaigners preparing for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. We look forward to bringing such a diverse group of sailors together for four days of tough, competitive racing during the day and great camaraderie in the evening as they share their trials and tribulations of the day amongst one another. In addition, the sport of sailing attracts a high percentage of participants in key demographic groups. A survey by Sage Collective shows sailing is amongst the highest interest level of major sport and recreational activities for House Hold Incomes over $150,000/year.
